The Black Hand

The Black Hand are New Orleans’ resident Sicilian mafia.
The organization is currently headed by “Silver Dollar” Sam Carolla.
The Black Hand controlled, or at least took a percentage of, most of the illegal bootlegging during prohibition. Though the Yankees have ended prohibition, bootlegging continues to be a profit center for the organization, as they smuggle hooch into the near by dry Confederate states of Mississippi and Alabama.
In addition to smuggling, the Black Hand also have their hands in extortion, arson, prostitution, gambling (including running several Italian Lotteries), and nearly every other enterprise, legal or otherwise, in New Orleans.
The Black Hand exerts considerable political influence, with City Hall and the New Orleans Police Department, and rumors persist that their influence extends well beyond the Crescent City, to the state house in Baton Rouge and even the Confederate capitol in Richmond.
With the N.O.P.D. bought and paid for, the Black Hand’s main source of concern are the rival organization, The Red Sect.
